What you missed from the NAB Show 2019 - SHAPE wlb

Once again this year, SHAPE was present at the famous NAB (National Association of Broadcasters convention) held in Las Vegas from April 8 to 11. In our 600 square foot booth, our team was on hand to present the latest SHAPE innovations. We also had the opportunity to meet with several of our customers and partners to discuss their products and their relationship with our brand. So here's a glimpse of what you missed at the NAB Show 2019.

We met Joseph Adams (@adamsjoe330) who specializes in behind the scene shooting and explains why he chose to use a SHAPE rig for his Canon C200. «The rig here is for the C200 which I think is an absolutely amazing rig to have. Not only just because of the shoulder rig that i feel super firm, I have a great mobility with it but my favourite thing about the SHAPE is their quick panel. [...] My other favorite feature is the actual cage around the C200 that not only just give me  more access to the camera but the main thing I love is the protection that it gives.»

During the NAB Show 2019, we met one of our loyal customers, Rubidium Wu, who explained why he liked the SHAPE rig for the Canon C200. He has adopted the brand because, among other things, the many possible adjustments offer him better comfort, but also because it allows him to have only all the features at his fingertips. «I went to visit the factory outside of Montreal and saw how they [the camera rigs] were made. It’s just a huge piece of mind to know that what you are trusting your ten thousands of dollars worth of camera gear to is made with integrity and made really really well.»

BENOÎT BRISMONTIER FROM ANGÉNIEUX

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5q2F2jXX2H8&%20list=PLJKcsBsU6WE_EYuzHXR9CL6pQlbmeakQR&index=16

We met Benoît Brismontier from the French company Angénieux who presented us with some zoom models available at their booth. It presents the different categories of the brand, from entry-level to very high-end categories. The EZ zooms is the latest range that has been created at Angénieux. It is mainly aimed at people with a more limited budget. One of the advantages of these zooms is that they are compatible with super 35 and full frame. The optimo style zooms are appreciated since they are about half as expensive as their big brother in the optimo range for performances that remain excellent. These are still mainly aimed at productions with a more limited budget. Benoît presented us with 2 zooms in this category, the 16-40 and the 48-130 which are very complementary. In addition to being very compact, they are also extremely light. Optimo anamophic zooms now allow you to do things that were not possible before, such as the shoulder camera or the drone. Angénieux also presented us 2 zooms of the anamorphic optimo category, the 30-72 and the 42-420, the 30-72 which is an extremely small zoom. In terms of size, this zoom is one of the smallest anamorphic zooms on the market. The 42-420 is a 10x anamorphic zoom, which is quite rare on the market. This zoom has the particularity of having the interchangeable rear as for the EZs, transforming it into a 25-250 spherical zoom. In the category of optical spherical zooms, Benoît presented the Ultra 12x zoom. This is in fact the new generation of the 24-290 which is the reference for zooms all over the world. The Ultra 12x zoom is more robust than the 24-290 and has an interchangeable rear panel to adapt to the different sensors on the market.

THE MULTI TURRET INVENTED BY IAN KERR

We were lucky enough to discover a superb invention, the Multi Turret. Ian Kerr, inventor of the Multi Turret, explained that he designed this system to solve the frustrations of documentary filmmakers who missed a shot because they were changing their lenses. The Multi Turret is actually a system attached to the camera that can accommodate 3 lenses. For example, in a simple fraction of a second, it is now possible to switch from a 14mm lens to a 35mm lens and then to a 135mm lens.
