Sony A7R III, A7 III camera cage
The SHAPE Sony A7R III Cage is targeted at filmmakers, videographers and photographers who want a simple, hassle-free and ergonomic cage design that really works. Specifically designed for the Sony A7R III and A7 III cameras, the form-fitting cage offers additional protection and securely locks the camera to the cage. It also provides easy access to all controls and ports as well as multiple attachment points for accessories. For handheld shooting, the side 15 mm rod clamps, located at the back of the cage, are designed for quickly securing the new ergonomic Mini Push-Button Wooden Side Handles with Padded Straps using a single ratchet knob on each side (A73CHH).
The SHAPE Sony A7R III Cage enables easy access to all of the camera’s features such as the control buttons, the side outputs, the memory card, the battery compartment and the lens release button, allowing you to save time while shooting. Further, the support between the lens and the camera grip is designed to anticipate a clearing for the fingers when the camera is handheld, allowing an ergonomic grip. This ergonomic cage is easy to assemble and disassemble and the components don’t need to be removed to install the camera that is fixed with a 1/4″-20 captive slotted base screw integrated into the cage, using the threaded hole underneath it. The position is secured to the back and sides of the cage, so it doesn’t moves forward when equipped with a heavier lens. You can also attach a delta adapter plate underneath the cage to mount it on a quick release plate to rapidly switch from a tripod to a handheld setup.
Additionally, all the doors and latches are fully operable when the camera is in the cage. Its easy-to-use and clever design enables you to operate the camera without having to remove the cable doors, and the strap hooks can remain attached to the camera while inserted in the cage. It is also equipped with an effective cable retainer system for all three of the left side cables to secure their use. The cage is also compatible with a full-sized HDMI cable protector lock to secure the use of your HDMI 4K cable. By leaving an open access to the hot shoe on top of the camera, you can mount many accessories using several mounting options including two cold shoe mounts located on the top of the cage as well as many SHAPE Standard 1/4″-20 anti-rotating hole patterns, Arri Standard 3/8″-16 anti-rotating hole patterns and 3/8″-16 threaded mounting holes. Made from CNC machined aluminum, the cage allows the camera to be held securely in place and restricts it from rotating by being attached with two anti-rotating tabs at the front. Furthermore, the cage is compatible with the Sony XLR-K2M audio unit, thus providing great sound for your videos. It also features an ARRI Standard Rosette that can be mounted in four different locations.
Quick Release Rod Base System and Metabones® Adapter
The cage is connected to its base via the new SHAPE Quick Release Rod Base System using a specifically designed 15 mm rod bloc system for the optical center of the Sony A7R III camera. It allows quick mounting and dismounting of the camera and the cage can easily snap in and be quickly removed from its 15 mm LW base by pressing the release button at the rear of the mount for handheld shooting. A pair of SHAPE 15 mm 10″ Aluminum Rods (15TUBE10) connect into your camera rig, extend it, and let you add various SHAPE and third-party accessories compatible with 15 mm rods. With these two rods and with a few fundamental accessories, you can most certainly even begin building your own rig from scratch. The rods are each 15 mm in diameter, 10 inches long, hollow, non-threaded, and made of reliable aluminum coated with a clear finish.
Changing the objective or adding a Metabones® Adapter can be done easily while keeping the camera in the cage. SHAPE created a removable Metabones® Adapter Support Bracket specifically designed for the Sony A7R III camera that is integrated in the cage. Fixed with 2 screws, the bracket’s height is easily adjustable and provides 15 mm of vertical adjustment. It supports the weight and reduces the stress on the camera lens mount. When there is no Metabones® Adapter, simply unscrew the 1/4″-20 screw to quickly remove the bracket.
Wooden Push-Button Top Handle
The ergonomic and easily removable SHAPE Top Handle was designed to provide the required space for mounting the Sony XLR-K2M audio unit. It offers a comfortable and secure wooden grip for carrying your camera and securing accessories. It also features the SHAPE Push-Button Technology, enabling you to balance the weight and rotate the handle in the position you need for a 360-degree axis. SHAPE is well known for its patented Push-button handle, now used by so many professionals in the industry. The technology was developer to give filmmakers quick and easy adjustment. By simply pressing the button, you are allowed a 360-degree rotation to place the handle or top handle in the best position for your use. Push, adjust, release, and then its lock.
This nicely crafted Push-Button Top Handle provides multiple mounting options, including ARRI Standard 3/8″-16 anti-rotating hole patterns on the top, SHAPE Standard 1/4″-20 anti-rotating hole patterns on the top and side, cold shoe mounts, and a 3/8″-16 UNC threaded hole at the front. It also features the SHAPE Rod Clamp at the front (15CTH), allowing you to directly mount a 15 mm rod onto the handle. Made of CNC Aluminum, the 15 mm LW Clamp can be easily attached to the top Handle. The clamp is designed to support a 15 mm rod such as the SHAPE REVOLT EVF Mount Bracket. The ratchet knob clamp lets you adjust and strongly fix the position of the 15 mm rod to the SHAPE Top Handle.
Follow focus friction & gear clic (FFCLIC)
The SHAPE Friction & Gear Follow-Focus Clic with Adjustable Marker is made of lightweight anodized CNC aluminum for strength and durability. It is designed to attach onto standard 15 mm rods of shoulder support rigs and other rigs. It attaches onto them via a clamp system, with simplicity. You would sit the Clic on top of the rods, and then slide and close a SHAPE-patented lever clamp underneath the rods, and the lever locks and holds the Clic securely on the rods.
The Clic’s focus mechanism also works with a clamp system, which when unlocked loosens the focus mechanism and allows it to be moved horizontally. It moves so to adjust itself closer to the lens. As it moves, its main feature — the focus disk — moves with it, and the focus disk is what reaches the lens. The focus disk can either be a friction wheel or a gear wheel. Both are present in this package and replacing one with the other is accomplished with the help of the included Allen wrench. The friction wheel has a rubber outer surface that would press up against the lens, keep firm contact with it, and ensure accurate and slip-free focusing. The friction wheel would serve well for most lenses and is made of high-quality rubber that in cold temperatures won’t get too cold to lose its grip. The gear wheel would accommodate those lenses that specifically have teeth on their focusing rings, and it would do so without any ring gears, by pressing its 0.8 pitch gears into the teeth.
The focus mechanism can be used on either the left or the right side of the lens, depending on the direction you place the Clic onto the rods in. And the focus disk itself can be used either in front of the focus mechanism or behind it, so to accommodate a wider variety of lens lengths. To move the disk to the rear, you would first just unscrew two screws from the gearbox. Once the screws are off, the focus disk can just be flipped over for use with longer lens constructions. The white mark disk at the right of the red knob is made of highly resistant Delrin thermoplastic. It can be written on with non-permanent markers to mark up focus measurements for various predetermined shots, and it is interchangeable and thereby many predetermined measurements can be kept ready at your side. Additionally, a slide-adjustable marker made of aluminum is included to be attached beside the mark disk and to be moved and tightened into positions along the disk.

Matte box 4×4 (MATT44)
The SHAPE 2-Stage 4 x 4″ Matte Box accepts lenses with up to a 100 mm front outside diameter. It mounts to 15 mm LWS rods and utilizes a swing-away design, which lets you perform quick lens changes without having to remove the matte box from your rods. You can adjust the height of the matte box in relation to the rods, which comes in handy when your lens center to rod center height is slightly off from the standard. Two rotating filter stages support the use of 4×4″ filters. The matte box comes with a top flag (eyebrow), side flags, four matte box donuts in 66, 72, 82, and 90 mm sizes, and elastic donut. The matte box also has a rear opening of 100 mm for lenses.
The included anti-reflection donuts prevent light behind the camera from reflecting off any filters in the matte box and degrading the image. Included with the matte box are anti-reflection donuts for lenses with a front outside diameter of 66, 72, 82, and 90 mm. The included elastic donut supports lenses with a front outside diameter between 66 and 90 mm, and it is especially useful with lenses that grow and shrink as you change focus or zoom. The side flags incorporate a hook design as a safety feature where they attach to the matte box. This helps prevent them from falling out of the matte box should the lockdown thumbscrew loosen accidentally. The swing-away bracket incorporates a height adjustment, enabling you to compensate a total of 0.65″ vertically. This allows you to use this matte box with a variety of camera/rod support combinations that may vary slightly from the industry standard 85 mm distance from LWS rod center to lens port center.
