The Blackmagic Pocket Shoulder Mount from SHAPE is a camera rig that is designed to enable shoulder-stabilized handheld shooting with the Pocket Cinema Camera while providing a platform to mount 15 mm rod-based accessories such as follow focuses and matte boxes.
Blackmagic Pocket cage and rod bloc system
The Cage for Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera from SHAPE gives filmmakers and videographers the added stability, protection, and connectivity needed to get their Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera ready for video production use, and is made from CNC machined aluminum. The cage offers additional protection for your Blackmagic Pocket Camera and provides a cold shoe mount on top to attach accessories, including on-camera lights, microphone shock mounts, and audio recorders. The cage is also designed with (56) 1/4″-20 threaded holes along the top and sides of the cage for attaching an electronic viewfinder, monitor, microphones shock mount, or other accessories. To insert the camera in the cage, simply unscrew the two black knobs in the rear of the cage to release the sliding backdoor. The camera then slots snuggly inside. The Pocket Camera’s battery door remains unobstructed when in the Pocket Cage, allowing for easy SD card and battery changes. In addition to supporting add-on accessories, thanks to a 1/4″-20 threaded hole at the bottom, the cage can be connected to baseplates, tripod quick release plates, rod systems, stabilization rigs, and other types of standard camera support.
Once in the cage, the camera attaches to the baseplate via a 1/4″-20 thumb screw. The baseplate provides support for 15 mm rod pairs, which are locked and adjusted using the ratcheted knob on the side of the baseplate. The pair of 15 mm rods 18″ long fit studio and LWS 15 mm rod clamps, allowing you to use available rod mounted accessories. The rods are machined from hollow aluminum tubes and feature chamfered ends that make it easier to insert into 15 mm rod clamps, even if the rod isn’t perfectly aligned or is at a slight angle to the rod clamp. This allows you to use a follow focus, matte box, or another 15 mm rod accessories. A 1/4″-20 threaded hole in the bottom of the baseplate lets you attach a tripod plate. SHAPE’s Black Liquorice Candy DSLR Handle attaches to the shoe mount on the top of the cage and gives you a solid top handle for operating and transporting the camera. It features left and right angle adjustment and additional 1/4″-20 and 3/8″-16 threads.
Quick handle rod bloc (HAND5)
The SHAPE Quick handle rod bloc is a professional video stabilization accessory with 2 camera handle grips, each providing an individual rotation angle of 360°. You can attach the handle to the camera platform using a simple screw knob. A simple Push-Button located at the articulation allows easy attachment and removal. Combined with the anodized aluminum rod bloc, the quick handle offers composite camera support for all 15 mm rods. You can achieve precise positioning by sliding the Quick Handle along the rods and tightening the small red knob located on the Rod Bloc. The rod bloc is designed with 2 screw-threaded holes allowing the mounting of the Quick Handle. SHAPE is well known for its patented Push-button handle, now used by so many professionals in the industry. The technology was developped to give filmakers quick and easy adjustment. By simply pressing the button, you are allowed a 360-degree rotation to place the handle in the best position for your use. Push, adjust, release, and then its lock.
Mini Composite Shoulder Pad (SHPAD3) and back pad (PAD1)
The SHAPE mini composite shoulder pad is padded for superior comfort and is made of slip-free material. It is designed with a 15 mm rod block on top allowing to hold 15 mm rods for camera and accessories to be attached. The screw knob allows to attach SHAPE counter-weight (PAD1, PADCW1). By adding extra male-female rods at the back, you can also attach a counter-weight behind the same rods. This way, your body can easily supports the weight of the camera and its accessories. The shoulder pad is also the perfect solution for switching rapidly from shoulder to tripod without having to remove the shoulder pad. It can remain on the camera rig permanently.
The back pad features a powder coated anodized aluminum plate and arm which are attached to a thick padding on the side facing the user. The back pad is compatible with the SHAPE Mini Composite Shoulder Pad (SHPAD3) and can be attach or remove easily from your rig via a 1/4-20 camera screw knob. Additionally, the back pad’s position can be adjusted to the user’s preference – up to 2″ vertically and 360° horizontally. The bottom of the back pad is designed with (2) 1/4-20 threaded holes, allowing to attach other accessories or counterweights.
